Village in San Fernando City placed on lockdown due to COVID-19

SAN FERNANDO CITY –– Mayor Alfredo Pablo Ortega placed San Agustin village on total lockdown starting Wednesday, Aug. 6, due to the rising number of residents who tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

At least 23 cases were recorded in the village since July 12 after a 74-year-old man there died of the disease.

The youngest patient is a 6-year-old girl who was exposed to a 67-year-old COVID-19 patient who later died. Three other children, aged 10 to 16, were also infected by the virus in the village.

Seven patients were recorded on Aug. 4, and another two on Aug. 5.

Health authorities started the mass testing in the village on Aug. 2 and swabbed 420 of 2,560 residents.
