NYC calls on youth orgs to register

/ 07:03 AM January 21, 2012

THE National Youth Commission (NYC) invites youth and youth-serving organizations all over the country to register with the commission’s Youth Organizations’ Registration Program (YORP).

The program is designed to establish a youth network in the country.

“Lahat ng youth organizations sa buong bansa ay pwedeng magpa-register,” said NYC Commissioner Erwin Chua Andaya, who also heads the YORP.

Andaya said the YORP policy on registration has been revised for easier registration of youth organizations.

Andaya said those qualified to register are groups with at least 15 members aged 15 to 30 years old. Groups need to submit registration form, directory of officers and members and certification or endorsement of school, barangay or church.

While it is not a requirement to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commissioner Andaya still encouraged the youth organizations to register.

“Importante din ang SEC registration to have a separate juridical personality,” said Andaya.

Through this nationwide registration, the Commission hopes to build linkages with the youth and facilitate a more active participation in its programs. “Kung registered kayo with NYC, mas madali kayong matutulungan ng agency sa trainings or workshops para lumago ang inyong org,” said Commissioner Andaya.
