MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III said the coming week would be “better” for the House prosecutors in the impeachment trial.
“I believe that in the coming days, we will really be able to show how easy it is to come out with the truth. So our panel will be performing much better,” he told reporters in a news briefing.
Asked how he assessed the prosecution, the President said: “They were able to bring out what needed to be brought out, and place on record what needed to be placed on record.”
Among those expected to take the witness stand in next week’s hearings is Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares.
The President will allow Henares to make Corona’s income tax returns (ITRs) available if the prosecution needs these to prove its case, according to Mr. Aquino’s spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.
“If a request is made to the President, in all likelihood, yes,” Lacierda said on Thursday when asked if Henares would be authorized to release the documents.
