MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 2) Two more members of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino’s Cabinet have been confirmed by the powerful Commission on Appointments.
No member of the Commission objected when it approved in the plenary on Wednesday to the appointments of Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima and Civil Service Commissioner Rasol Lamping Mitmug.
Before the plenary approval, Purisima went under intense questioning from members of the Commission’s committee on finance before a motion was made to endorse his confirmation for plenary approval.
Mitmug, on the other hand, was endorsed by the Commission’s committee on constitutional commissions and offices last week but the plenary approval just came this Wednesday.
The confirmation of the two Cabinet members was made on the last session day of Congress as it goes go on sine die adjournment this week.
