Rizal Park closed but virus drive-thru testing site remains operational

The promenade areas of Rizal Park in Manila are closed for the duration of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), according to the National Parks and Development Committee.

The drive-thru testing site for the new coronavirus disease at Quirino Grandstand, however, will remain open. The facility operated by the Manila City government offers free rapid tests for residents and nonresidents. When Metro Manila transitioned to general community quarantine last month, Rizal Park was reopened to allow people to exercise as long as they observed health protocols such as the wearing of face masks, physical distancing and the taking of temperature. In addition, mass gatherings were limited to only 10 people.

During MECQ, individuals are allowed to engage in outdoor exercises such as walking, jogging, running and biking but only within their own communities. INQ
