Iloilo City mayor bares contact with coronavirus carriers, goes on quarantine
ILOILO CITY—Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas will go on quarantine after being exposed to persons positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
In a statement issued on Tuesday (Aug. 4), Trenas said he had been exposed to “two to three positive cases.”
Treñas, 63, is a diabetic taking daily insulin shots and is considered among those highly vulnerable to the disease because of that.
But aside from working at home, the mayor has regularly reported for work at his office, conducting meetings and press conferences.
Visibly tired during the weekly flag-raising ceremony of City Hall employees on Monday (Aug. 3), the mayor broke into tears while leading the recital of The Lord’s Prayer as he sought healing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Father, heal our land,” he said at the end of the prayer.
