MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation announced on Tuesday the suspension of processing for NBI clearances in all areas placed under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
In a statement, NBI officer-in-charge Eric Distor said areas covered by the suspension are Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, which were placed again under MECQ from August 4 to 18, amid the rising cases of the coronavirus disease.
“All Clearance processing and Satellite Offices in the aforementioned areas will be closed for the duration of the quarantine period or MECQ,” he said.
“The public is, therefore, advised of the cancellation of all clearance transactions during the quarantine period,” he also said.
Distor said the NBI supports the action of the national government to place certain areas under stricter quarantine measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 and to heed the “overwhelming clamor” of health frontliners for a “timeout.”
