Retired Caloocan Bishop Iñiguez gets COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — A retired bishop of the Diocese of Caloocan has been infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the diocese announced on Sunday.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Bishop Deogracias S. Iñiguez, Jr, DD has been tested positive for COVID-19 on August 1, 2020,” Diocese of Caloocan said on Facebook, quoting the statement of National Shrine and Parish of the Divine Mercy in Bulacan.

The diocese said Iñiguez is being treated at a hospital and is under stable condition.
The diocese also asked for prayers for the bishop’s fast recovery.
In August 2003, Iñiguez was installed as bishop of the Diocese of Kalookan. He resigned in January 2013.
Article continues after this advertisementBefore Iñiguez, Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo also contracted the respiratory illness. Pabillo has since recovered from the disease after testing negative for the virus based on the result of his second swab test.
