MANILA, Philippines—A 51-year-old former mayor of Banate, Iloilo was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly shooting a bus driver following a heated altercation, national police spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said.
Carlos Cabangal Jr. was driving his green Toyota Hi-Lux along National Highway, Barangay (village) Anilao in Iloilo around 12 noon when he got involved in a traffic accident with an HPQ 42 Mini Bus driven by Rolando Danao Adriatico, Cruz said.
Cruz said that a heated argument ensued between the two that led Cabangal to shoot Adriatico using a caliber .45 pistol.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his right forearm and was rushed to the hospital while the suspect voluntarily surrendered himself and his firearm to Anilao police officers, Cruz Jr. said.
