8 inmates infected with COVID-19 in Nueva Ecija

CABANATUAN CITY — Eleven people, including eight detainees, were added to the growing cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nueva Ecija, provincial inter-agency task force said on Sunday.

The new cases raised the province’s total COVID-19 tally to 217 as of Saturday.

The infected detainees were reportedly exposed to their 45-year-old fellow inmate at the Cabanatuan City police station, according to the task force.

The detainees, all men aged 17 to 47, were immediately placed in an isolation area in this city.

A 1-year-old girl from Gen. Natividad town, a 50-year-old man from Jaen town, and a 43-year-old man from San Isidro town were also among the latest COVID-19 cases in the province.
