LUCENA CITY – A motorcycle driver died in an accident along the Maharlika Highway in Atimonan town in Quezon province pre-dawn on Sunday.
The Atimonan police said Arvin Mapaye was negotiating the highway and was headed for Bicol region when he accidentally bumped the rear portion of an unknown vehicle travelling ahead of him in Barangay (village) San Isidro at around 12:50 a.m.
The wayward motorcycle careened into the opposite lane and was subsequently hit and dragged by an incoming truck driven by Floro Alma Jr.
The seriously injured motorcycle driver was taken to the Doña Marta Memorial District Hospital in the town but died along the way.
The truck driver has been taken into police custody.
