Camp Olivas on lockdown as 18 Central Luzon cops get COVID-19

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The Central Luzon police headquarters was locked down on Saturday night after 18 police officers and a civilian employee tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Brig. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia ordered the shutdown of Camp Prospero Olivas in this Pampanga capital in order to disinfect the facilities.

The infected lawmen, who were tested on Thursday (July 30), were mostly asymptomatic, he said in a statement.

They have been quarantined and their close contacts are being identified, Sermonia said, while more police personnel undergo tests.

Earlier in May, 18 rookie police officers who were training in the cities of Angeles and Mabalacat were found positive of the disease. They have since recovered from the virus. TONETTE OREJAS
