MANILA, Philippines — House Deputy Speaker Mujiv Hataman and his wife, Isabela City mayor Sitti Djalia “Dadah” Hataman have contracted COVID-19, the lawmaker revealed on Saturday.

“Nitong nakaraang Huwebes, dahil sa inakala naming karaniwang ubo, nagpasya kami ng maybahay kong si Mayor Dadah na magpatest para sa COVID-19,” he said in a Facebook post.

(This past Thursday, when we thought we had the usual cough, my wife Mayor Dadah and I decided to undergo testing for COVID-19.)

“Bumalik na ang resulta. Positive kami pareho,” he added.

(The results came. We both tested positive.)

The lawmaker said that he and his wife are awaiting the COVID-19 results of their children, as well as other people staying in their Basilan home.

“Kami ay kasalukuyan nang nag-quarantine, at nakagawa na rin ng mga hakbang upang gawing mas ligtas ang aming tahanan,” Hataman added.

(We are currently in quarantine, and have taken additional steps to make sure our home is safe.)

As of Friday, the country’s COVID-19 tally is at 93, 354, with 65,178 recoveries and 2,023 deaths.
