MANILA, Philippines — Pasig River Ferry Service (PRFS) will resume partial operations with limited stations and reduced passengers starting Monday, August 3, The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Friday.
“We are pleased to announce that everything is set for the partial resumption of the PRFS, but only half of its capacity, inclusive of ferry boat crew. Also, we will continue to provide free rides for the ferry passengers,” MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim said in a statement.
MMDA said the ferry boat stations that will operate on Monday are: Pinagbuhatan and San Joaquin in Pasig, Guadalupe and Valenzuela in Makati, and Lawton and Escolta in Manila.
PRFS will operate from Mondays to Saturdays at 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will serve 50 percent of passenger capacity. It is also free of charge.
MMDA Deputy Chairman and PRFS chief Frisco San Juan Jr. said they implemented guidelines for ferry passengers including wearing face masks and observing physical distancing.
San Juan also noted that only those aged 21 to 59 years old are allowed to avail the ferry service.
Passengers will undergo temperature check and fill out health forms for contact tracing upon arriving at the ferry station.
The ferry service was temporarily stopped on March 17 when the government enforced enhanced community quarantine over Luzon.
