Olongapo casino shuts down after workers test positive for COVID-19

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES –– Two casino dealers are among the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients in Olongapo City, prompting the gaming facility to close, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. announced on Thursday, July 30.

The city’s only casino “will be closed for 3 days for disinfection,” while all its employees would undergo a medical examination, the mayor said.

One of the casino dealers afflicted with the virus is a 51-year-old man who traveled to Batangas. He was on duty alongside his infected colleague, a 53-year-old man.

Olongapo also recorded two more patients on Thursday—a 57-year-old woman from Pasig City and a 65-year old man who traveled recently to Baguio City.

The city currently has a total of 31 confirmed cases, 14 of whom have healed. Olongapo has three fatalities.
