MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday expressed its gratitude for the Muslim community’s cooperation in following health protocols during religious activities as the country joins them in celebrating Eid’l-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.
“We are grateful to the Filipino Muslim community for their understanding and cooperation amid health and safety restrictions being enforced by authorities in the conduct of religious gathering and activities,” PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said in a statement.
“This is the true essence of caring and compassion for others, the true hallmarks of this special day of Eid-al-Adha,” Banac added.
The PNP also joins the Muslim community in “praying for peace and harmony among the diverse peoples and cultures.”
Eid’l-Adha is a major Muslim feast celebrated by a pilgrimage in Mecca, Islam’s holiest city. It recounts Abraham’s sacrifice in obedience to Allah’s command.
