COA releases list of salaries, allowances received by government officials in 2019
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Audit (COA) has released a list of the salaries and other allowances that officials in the national government, government-controlled corporations, and other agencies received for 2019.
COA Chairman Michael Aguinaldo sent copies of the over 1,200-page “2019 Report on Salaries and Allowances” to President Rodrigo Duterte, Senate President Vicente Sotto III and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
The salaries of Cabinet secretaries, undersecretaries, and assistant secretaries were placed in alphabetical order, grouped by government agency, and by the amount each one received.
Readers can find the ranking of officials — listed according to the amount of their salaries and allowances, from highest to lowest — in Part IV, page 356 of the report.
According to Aguinaldo, the move is in compliance with COA Memorandum No. 92-780 series of 1992, which would ensure that the salaries and allowances of high-ranking officials are on available for public consumption.
“This report also aims to support this Administration’s continuing thrust for transparency and accountability in government transactions and operations,” Aguinaldo said in his letter to Duterte, Sotto, and Cayetano.
Aside from various departments, government agencies, and government-owned and controlled corporations, the list also provides a look at the salaries received by officials of the country’s national health institutions like the Philippine Heart Center and the Philippine Health and Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) — which has been rocked with accusations of corruption.
Other agencies include other offices like the Commission on Elections, and the Commission on Human Rights, even COA itself, and the Supreme Court.
