MANILA, Philippines — Former deputy speaker Miro Quimbo has tested positive for coronavirus, while his wife, incumbent Marikina 2nd District Rep. Stella Quimbo, and their children have all tested negative.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Quimbo revealed that his swab test results showed that he has the disease, which forced him to go on isolation to avoid transmitting the virus to others including his relatives.
“It is with sadness that I announce today that my swab test result came back and it showed that I am positive for COVID-19 virus,” Quimbo said.
“I am currently in isolation away from my family and loved ones. Thankfully, my children and my wife, Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo, have all tested negative,” he added.
Quimbo served his last term in the 17th Congress for the same congressional district that Rep. Stella now represents.
Rep. Stella has been notably active in the House of Representatives despite its limited operations, being a primary author of the country’s stimulus package bills in Congress while attending some of the House’s hearings on the ABS-CBN franchise.
In a previous post, Quimbo was all praises for her economics professor-turned-lawmaker wife, hoping that their COVID-19 swab tests turn out negative.
