MANILA, Philippines — While locally-stranded individuals (LSIs) are welcome to go to the city of Manila, Mayor Isko Moreno warned them to be careful as there are still COVID-19 cases in the locality.
“Sa lahat ng LSIs na pupunta sa Maynila, welcome po kayo pero mag-ingat kayo sa Maynila, maraming COVID-19 dito at may namamatay,” he said in an interview.
(To all the LSIs who are going to Manila, you are welcome here but remain careful in Manila as there are still COVID-19 cases here and there are numbers of deaths.)
“Come in at your own risk. Ingat kayo dito [Be careful here],” he said adding that COVID-19 is a universal problem and the risk it poses and its existence in every city should not be hidden from the public.
Moreno earlier announced that the city will allow even nonresidents to avail of its free COVID-19 testing, as they launched the city’s second walk-in testing center at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center in Tondo.
Meanwhile, thousands of LSIs are currently crammed inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, 25 of which got positive results for the COVID-19 rapid test.
At present, there are 83,673 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, with 26,617 recoveries, and 1,947 deaths.
Metro Manila logged the most number of COVID-19 cases among other regions, with 45,969 cases.
