15 patients from Samar, Leyte add to Eastern Visayas 822 COVID-19 cases
TACLOBAN CITY –– At least 15 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were added to the number of patients in Eastern Visayas on Monday.
Except for one, all of them involved locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
The new COVID-19 cases in the region were from the provinces of Samar and Leyte.
Calbayog City in Samar recorded five infections while Leyte got 10 additional cases from Tacloban City and the towns of Hindang, Kananga, Villaba, Merida, Capoocan, Carigara, Barugo, and Inopacan.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), Eastern Visayas has 822 COVID-19 cases.
In Tacloban City, Dr. Gloria Fabregas, its health officer, said of the city’s 1,504 returnees, which includes LSIs, overseas workers, and Balik Probinsya beneficiaries, only 357 were isolated at the city’s five quarantine facilities.
Article continues after this advertisementFabregas reiterated the need for people to strictly observe all health protocols like wearing a mask, physical distancing, and frequent hand washing, among others, to contain the spread of the virus.
