On July 28, 1963, 24 Boy Scouts and scouting officials, the Philippine delegates to the 11th Boy Scout World Jamboree in Greece, perished along with the passengers and crew of United Arab Airlines Flight 869 when it crashed into the Arabian Sea near India.
The “Scout” streets in Quezon City were named in their honor. The Boy Scouts cenotaph found in the Manila North Cemetery was also built to remember them by.
