SOCIAL workers from the different DSWD-accredited social welfare and development agencies in Central Visayas recently undertook a refresher course on case management.
Nenia Antipala, assistant regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7), who was the resource person, said the training was in response to the need to develop the competencies of social workers towards clinical and system approaches in managing cases.
She said social workers need to strengthen their competencies in case management to cope with their changing roles and functions brought about by drastic changes in people’s social functioning within an increasing complex environment.
Around 21 social workers participated in the training that was focused on their roles and functions, revisiting their basic task in case management, demonstrating their ability to utilize various methods of assessment to produce a concise and informative assessment report including formulating effective intervention plans, recognizing errors in report writing and increase knowledge of correct common, workplace English.
The social workers came from Cebu Hope Center, Little Bamboo Foundation, Visayan Forum, Antonia Oviedo, Phil. Association of Social Workers Inc., St. Peter Academy of Alegria Foundation Inc., Children Shelter of Cebu, CFIC Brothers, Calanzanz Cultural Center, USPF-COP, Options Inc., Franciscan Children’s Home, ANCE, MJTRC, Talisay City-LGU, PTC and Parent’s Reach Foundation, among others.
