MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA)  east of the Visayas dissipated early Monday morning, but the region, as well as Mindanao, will still have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the state weather bureau.

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of possible flash floods and  landslides in the affected regions.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience hot and humid weather, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rainshowers mostly in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.

“Sa kasalukuyan, wala naman tayong nakikitang ibang sama ng panahon sa palibot ng ating bansa. pero dahil may umiiral na ITCZ, posible po ang biglaang pagsulpot at magdedevelop na mga low pressure area malapit sa ating bansa,” Pagasa weather specialist Ariel Rojas said.

(Currently, we are not monitoring any weather disturbance around the country, but because of ITCZ, low pressure areas may suddenly develop.)
