MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Taguig has so far conducted more than 23,000 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) among its population as it continues its attempt to test 10 percent of its constituents by the end of the year.

The Taguig government noted that the 23,000 PCR tests conducted so far comprises about 2.5 percent of the city’s population.

It also urged Taguigeños to get tested for COVID-19 through the two drive-thru sites or the hatid-sundo program of the 31 health centers citywide.

“COVID-19 testing is very accessible to citizens. Start by taking the self-assessment test on taguiginfo.com or calling the health center near you to get delivered the assessment forms at your doorstep,” the city government said in a statement.

The drive-thru testing initiative is a part of the city government’s Systematic Mass Approach to Responsible Testing (SMART) program which includes barangay-based testing, visit from the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) testing team, and tests in private and public hospitals.

“SMART is a framework that ensures that everyone who needs to be tested will be tested,” Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano earlier said.
