PNP records 10th COVID-19 death
MANILA, Philippines — Another police officer has succumbed to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the number of deaths because of the coronavirus in the Philippine National Police (PNP) to 10.
PNP, in a statement Sunday, said its 10th fatality is a 46-year-old male police officer who was recently assigned to the PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame.
“Reports said he died on Wednesday, July 22, five days after he was tested positive in an RT-PCR [reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction] test last July 17,” the PNP said.
There are so far 1,932 COVID-19 cases among police personnel since March, the PNP said. Of the number, 703 have already recovered.
Meanwhile, the PNP said it is monitoring 2,449 police personnel who are suspected persons under investigation (PUIs) and 725 probable PUIs.
