Oriental Mindoro’s provincial administrator tests positive for COVID-19

CITY OF CALAPAN — Oriental Mindoro provincial administrator Dr. Hubbert Christopher Dolor has tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), his brother Governor Humerlito Dolor said in a post on social media at noon on Sunday.

Governor Dolor said his brother’s real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) result came back positive on Saturday (July 25).

The governor said he also underwent a swab test and the result was negative.

RT-PCR is a method for detecting the presence of specific genetic material in any pathogen, including the severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV), which causes COVID-19.

Hubbert, who is also a medical doctor, is confined in a hospital outside the province, according to the governor.

He said his brother’s exposure to the virus was still unknown.

The governor said the provincial capitol will be put on lockdown starting Monday (July 27) for disinfection.

A massive contact tracing is also being undertaken in an effort to look for those who had met with Dr. Dolor since July 18.

The governor said he will also undergo a 14-day quarantine, which started Sunday.
