Magnitude 5.6 earthquake jolts Davao Oriental

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Davao Oriental Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In its latest bulletin, Phivolcs said the temblor hit 81 kilometers (km) southeast of the municipality of Manay at 11:12 a.m.

The quake of tectonic origin had a depth of 59 km.

It was felt at Intensity III in Manay, Davao Oriental and Intensity II in Davao City.

Phivolcs also recorded Instrumental Intensity III in Malungon, Sarangani, and Intensity II in Alabel and Kiamba, Sarangani.

Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in General Santos City, and Koronadal City and Tupi, South Cotabato.

Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks.
