Man, niece drown

Victims found with bruises, Dumanjug police to probe deaths

Police are investigating the death of a man and his niece whose bodies were found floating off barangay Bitoon, Dumanjug town, southwest Cebu.
Police said autopsy reports showed that Paulino Ynilog, 45, and Concepcion Ynilog, 17, drowned.

Further investigation will be made to find out why the victims had bruises in their bodies, said Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr., chief of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

Police said there were indications that Pahulino’s face was hit with a hard object.

The two victims were last seen alive gathering seashells around 7 a.m.

Residents in the area were alarmed when the victims disappeared.

The girl’s body was found floating around 2 p.m.

Police conducted a search-and-rescue operation. It was around 8 p.m. when the man’s body was found.

Police are still looking for witnesses to shed light on the deaths.

Meanwhile, the body of a 27-year-old man was found floating in the waters off barangay Catmon Daan, Catmon town, northern Cebu.

Police said there were no indications of foul play in the death of Michael Aroja Frota.

Police said Frota was seen fishing before he was found dead.

The victim’s mother told police that the man was suffering from epilepsy.
