COVID-19 hits 13 Pangasinan cops, 2 civilian employees 

DAGUPAN CITY – Fifteen members of the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office, two of them non-uniformed personnel, have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as of Friday, July 24, 2020.

An initial report from the Ilocos Regional Police stated that Pangasinan has the most number of infected police personnel following mass testings conducted by the provincial health office.

Nine Pangasinan police officers, who were infected earlier, have recovered from the disease.

Ilocos Sur province has only infected police officer,  while the lone  patient from the Ilocos Norte police force has recovered.

No police officers in La Union province has so far been infected.

Seven of the afflicted Pangasinan police officers are from Lingayen; two from San Carlos City and Binmaley and one each from the towns of Sta Barbara, Umingan, Labrador, and Bautista.

Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo said he had ordered the disinfection of the residences of the police officers, as well as all public areas.

A statement from the Pangasinan Police Office said the office is under a temporary lockdown while it is being disinfected.

Contact tracing is likewise underway.
