Former cop shot dead in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — A former police officer was shot dead inside his house in Malate, Manila on Thursday evening, city police said.

A report from the Manila Police District Homicide Section identified the victim as Rolando Yulo, 49.

According to accounts of witnesses, Yulo was lifting dumbbells for his workout at the fifth floor of his home along Balingkit Street in Barangay 712 when he was shot in the head from an “unknown direction” at around 6 p.m.

The witnesses brought the victim to Manila Doctors Hospital, where the former policeman expired.

MPD Homicide chief Capt. Henry Navarro said they are still getting Yulo’s personnel service records from PNP.

Police will likewise conduct further investigation to identify the suspects.
