22 stranded residents of Negros Occidental positive for COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY — At least 22 more locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in Negros Occidental and two Bacolod residents tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday.

The LSIs are from the cities of Bago, Kabankalan, Himamaylan, Sipalay, Talisay, San Carlos, and Silay and the towns of Manapla, Calatrava, Murcia, Valladolid, Pontevedra, and Binalbagan, according to the Department of Health in Western Visayas (DOH-6).

The two new COVID-19 cases in Bacolod, on the other hand, involve a 21-year-old female office worker and a 32-year-old male, said Dr. Grace Tan, Bacolod Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19 spokesperson.

The 21-year-old office worker had cough and trouble breathing.

She was admitted at a hospital on July 5 and was transferred to a quarantine facility after she was discharged on July 13.

“She is in stable condition,” Tan said.

The 32-year-old male patient from Bacolod was also admitted at a hospital and is recuperating.

The DOH also reported that 18 COVID-19 patients in Negros Occidental and one in Bacolod City have recovered.

Cauayan had the most recoveries with four; followed by Himamaylan City with three; Murcia, Victorias City, Sagay City and Manapla with two each; and Hinigaran, Silay City, and Sipalay City with one each.

Negros Occidental has 327 COVID-19 cases while Bacolod City has 95, the DOH said.
