MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Palawan, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, Western and Central Visayas on Friday, according to the state weather bureau.
The ITCZ is formed when winds coming from the northern and southern hemisphere converge, bringing clouds that cause rains in affected areas.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon , and the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will have fair weather, with chances of isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, Meno Mendoza, weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in a 4a.m. weather bulletin.
“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng Kabisayaan, magkakaroon pa rin ng maaliwalas na panahon na may posibilidad ng panandaliang buhos ng ulan na dulot pa rin ng localized thunderstorms,” said Mendoza.
(In the rest of Visayas, there will be fair weather with possible isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.)
“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng Mindanao, magiging maaliwalas ang panahon at isolated lamang na pag-ulan ang inaasahan lalo na pagdating ng hapon o gabi,” he also said.
(For the rest of Mindanao, there will also be fair weather, with isolated rains expected to occur in the afternoon or evening.)
There is no low pressure area expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the next two to three days, according to Mendoza.
