PLM staffer dies of COVID-19; 2 other cases reported
A staffer of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) has passed away due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while two others have tested positive.
In a statement, PLM said the 57-year-old female staffer reported to work on July 9, two days before she exhibited flu-like symptoms. She was confined at a Manila hospital where she died on Wednesday.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the bereaved. Meanwhile, we would like to assure the PLM community that daily disinfection protocols and triage processes are in place to protect our workforce from COVID-19,” PLM president Emmanuel Leyco said.
Of the two current cases, one has recovered while the other remains hospitalized. But PLM clarified that both cases were confirmed on separate dates and there was still no virus transmission on campus.—Nikka G. Valenzuela
