CITY OF MALOLOS—Eighteen elderly inmates and three prison guards in the provincial jail were isolated on Wednesday after they tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), authorities here said.

Marcos Rivero, Bulacan provincial warden, said the inmates and guards could have been exposed to a jail employee who tested positive for the virus last week.

The 18 inmates, age 60 to 70, had fever and were placed on quarantine at one of the cells.
