LOOK: Pasigueño in localized ECQ area overjoyed after receiving relief pack from LGU

MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City residents who live in areas placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) need not worry about going out of their homes to buy food.

One Pasigueño was surprised as she received a relief pack courtesy of the Pasig local government, complete with toiletries and other essentials.

“Grabe ang ayuda!! Kompleto (Look at this relief pack! Looks complete!)” Twitter netizen Janelle Ira said on Monday, sharing a photo of what she got from the food bag distributed by the LGU.

Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto later took notice of the netizen’s tweet and replied that the purpose of the food bags was to prevent her and other residents from going out of their homes while localized ECQ is in place.

“Para di na po kayo lumabas!!! Kung sumunod tayong lahat mas mabilis din po matatapos ang Localized ECQ sa inyo. Ingat po at God bless!” Sotto told the netizen.

(So you won’t have to go out of your homes! If we all comply, the localized ECQ in your areas will be lifted earlier. Stay safe and God bless!)

Currently, the Pasig City LGU placed three streets in Napico, Barangay Manggahan, and the  Ventura Compound, F. Mariano, Barangay Dela Paz under localized ECQ due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the areas.

As of July 21, Pasig City has 1,359 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 679 recoveries and 97 deaths.

Meanwhile, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed that there are 72,269 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, of which 23,623 have recovered while 1,843 have died.
