The Navotas City government has reminded residents to follow city ordinances to protect them from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as the number of lockdown violators has increased.

(We are in the middle of the two-week lockdown but there are still many residents who would violate the ordinances implemented. These rules are needed to protect us.)

(Let us follow the rules. Every rule is needed to protect ourselves as well as our fellow residents.)

Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco, meanwhile, said the transmission of the coronavirus disease is prevalent among relatives and workmates in the city.

(Before implementing lockdown, we recorded a surge of positive cases. Most of our patients are relatives or workmates.)

As of July 21, the coronavirus disease has infected 1,282 residents in Navotas City, Tiangco said. Of the total, Tiangco said 80 people have died while 577 residents have recovered from the disease.

The enhanced community quarantine placed over Navotas began last July 16. It is expected to end by July 29.
