PNP task group to identify possible gov’t cohorts of arrested Kapa founder
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police on Wednesday said it will be creating a special task group that will investigate possible accomplices of Joel Apolinario, founder of Kapa Community Ministry International, who was arrested on Tuesday for syndicated estafa.
“The special task group is there to investigate kung sino mga kasali dito, yung sinasabing members ng kapulisan o members ng AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) at lahat ng miyembro ng gobyerno,” PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa said in an online press briefing on the arrest of Apolinario.
(The special task group is there to investigate the accomplices, the so-called members of police or members of AFP and other members of the government.)
Gamboa said they will file charges and arrest these accomplices “if evidence warrants”.
Aside from the accomplices, Gamboa said the special task group will also handle complainants lodged against Apolinario.
“We will just create a special task group purposely first to take care of the complainants and facilitate their claim and all their properties and bank accounts attached. Of course, this is a legal procedure. Initially, we take charge of this,” the country’s top police official said.
To recall, Apolinario, who was allegedly involved in a pyramiding scheme, was arrested as well as his 23 men inside a secluded resort at Surigao del Sur on Tuesday.
