COVID-19 hits 36 more cops, raising PNP total to 1,600

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday recorded 36 more police officers who were diagnosed with the coronavirus disease as the COVID-19 nationwide tally reached more than 70,000.

The new cases increased the PNP total to 1,600, according to its Facebook post.

Meanwhile, two more officers were able to recover from the disease, raising the total PNP recoveries to 610.

No new deaths were reported, which maintained the PNP death toll to nine.

The PNP is also probing more than 2,000 police personnel who are suspected carriers of the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.
