/ 05:15 PM July 21, 2020

GAPAN CITY –– A member of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to combined military and police forces here on Monday, authorities said.

The former rebel, who reportedly belonged to the Platoon Uno of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya in the Sierra Madre, brought with him an explosive, a rifle grenade, and an NPA manual when he surrendered to the government.

The man’s surrender was facilitated by the government’s combined armed forces in line with the Duterte administration’s program under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

The former rebel is set to benefit from the government’s enhanced comprehensive local integration program or E-CLIP. Armand Galang
