Antipolo vet office shut after workers got exposed to COVID-19 case

MANILA, Philippines — The Antipolo City government has temporarily closed its veterinary office after some of its personnel got exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case.

Executive Assistant to the Mayor Jun Ynares, wife to Antipolo Mayor Andrea Ynares, said the personnel are undergoing mandatory quarantine after getting tested for coronavirus and contact tracing.

“Sila ay kasalukuyang sumasailalim sa mandatory quarantine matapos magsagawa ng swab tests at contact tracing,” he said in a post on Facebook on Monday.

Veterinary clinic services and vaccination were subsequently suspended until July 29.

However, the office’s meat inspection will still continue, Ynares said.

As of Monday, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city reached 504, with 255 recoveries and 43 deaths, according to the local government.

A total of 667 residents are undergoing quarantine, 372 of them are probable cases while 295 are suspected COVID-19 cases.
