Part of Baguio village on total lockdown after COVID-19 case found in condominium

BAGUIO CITY–Officials here ordered a total lockdown along Villamor Drive of the village of Lualhati starting 10 a.m. on Tuesday (July 21) after the area recorded its first case of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The selective lockdown was imposed between 6 p.m to 9 p.m.on Monday but the total lockdown will be strictly implemented at 10 a.m. on Tuesday until further notice, according to a letter by Julius Ampal, village chief of Lualhati, to all condo tenants and business owners on Villamor Drive.

The patient is a 46-year-old woman who lives on the second floor of a high-rise condominium on Villamor Drive. She was taken to the hospital for treatment on Monday (July 20).

Since Monday night, police have been patrolling the area to restrict movement. Police also directed Baguio residents to avoid Villamor Drive until the lockdown has been lifted.

Residents can go out to buy their essentials between 7 a.m. to 10 am only on Tuesday, Ampal said.
