House of Representatives records 17th COVID-19 case
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives on Monday reported that another employee, the 17th overall, tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
House Secretary General Jose Luis G. Montales said that the latest patient is a congressional staff who reported for work on July 14 and 16.
Following the confirmation of the latest case, Montales urged that health protocols being implemented in the lower chamber be strictly followed.
Health protocols are being implemented in the House such as holding of online or hybrid hearings to ensure that social distancing is being practiced.
“Nothing short of collective action can keep everyone safe,” Montales stressed.
Article continues after this advertisementAs of July 19, there are 67,456 COVID-19 cases in the country, with recoveries at 22,465 and death toll at 1,831.
