Coronavirus infections slow down in Eastern Visayas — DOH

TACLOBAN CITY – The number of coronavirus infections in Eastern Visayas has slowed down in the past few days.

The Department of Health (DOH) said the region recorded just three new cases of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday and Saturday compared to the previous weeks where more than 10 infections were recorded daily.

The new cases were from Baybay City and the towns of Carigara and Mahaplag—all in Leyte.

Two of the cases are of locally stranded individuals while the other patient was an overseas worker from Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Minerva Molon, the director of DOH in Eastern Visayas appealed to the public to continue observing health protocols such as wearing face masks and observing physical distancing to stop the spread of the new coronavirus that has left three dead in the region.

“We should be responsible during this time of the pandemic,” she said.

Eastern Visayas has recorded 670 COVID-19 cases. Of this number, 639 have already recovered.
