TAGBILARAN CITY- The mayor of Danao town in Bohol on Friday ordered the lockdown of a sub-village in Barangay Poblacion after one resident died from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Danao Mayor Jose Cepedoza said the lockdown in Sitio Catiwasan will last for 14 days or until July 31.
Residents in the area were barred from going out of their homes while people from other areas were barred from entering the sub-village which has at least 15 households.
The recent fatality in Bohol is a 68-year-old male who was admitted at the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City last July 7, 2020.
The patient, who reportedly had community-acquired pneumonia, died last Tuesday, July 14.
He was later found to have contracted COVID-19. Bohol now has two deaths because of the coronavirus disease. Cepedoza urged residents to follow the health standards to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“I urge everyone to always wear face masks and to observe physical distancing so we will get rid of this pandemic. Let us stay calm and vigilant,” he said in a post on Facebook.
