Gordon, wife, 2 others self-quarantine after 10 staffers contract COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Richard Gordon on Saturday revealed that he, his wife, and two of their household personnel placed themselves on self-quarantine after 10 of his “immediate staff” contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a statement, Gordon, who also chairs the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), said that his staff found out they were positive after undergoing RT-PCR testing.

The 10 immediate personnel “immediately went into quarantine” after getting their results, Gordon added.

“We have also begun contact tracing procedures in order to identify all those who may have been exposed to these individuals and take appropriate measures moving forward,” Gordon said.

“As I am exposed to my staff and to the public on a daily basis, I also had myself tested for the virus upon learning of these latest results.”

While Gordon, his wife, and two of their staffers tested negative for the coronavirus, they still placed themselves on “self-imposed isolation.”

The Philippines, so far, has 63,001 COVID-19 cases, with 21,748 recoveries and 1,660 deaths.
