CITY OF CALAPAN – The regional office of the National Bureau Investigation (NBI) in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) in Barangay (village) Sta. Isabel here is on lockdown for 14 days after seven of its staff tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Calapan Mayor Arnan Panaligan said in a social media post on Friday evening.
The NBI staff were infected by an NBI official and a companion-staff who came from Metro Manila, said Panaligan, quoting City Health and Sanitation Department (CHSD) officer Dr. Basilisa Llanto.
The infected NBI Mimaropa personnel are now isolated at the NBI regional office while the official and companion are on quarantine in Metro Manila.
No one is allowed to go to the NBI office during the lockdown period, Panaligan said.
He asked those who had transactions at the NBI here or had contact with NBI staff in the city since July 10 to monitor their condition and to coordinate with their barangay officials or health officers if they have concerns.
The seven NBI personnel are Calapan City’s active COVID-19 cases as of Saturday. Calapan City recorded some nine cases but eight of them had recovered while the other died, clearing the city’s record as of July 15.
