Palace backs destruction of seized illegal drugs

/ 04:10 AM July 18, 2020

Malacañang has backed a Supreme Court circular requiring the immediate destruction of illegal drugs no longer needed as evidence in court trials.

“We welcome it. Because those illegal drugs might end up falling into the wrong hands,” said presidential spokesperson Harry Roque in an interview over state-run PTV.

He added: “It’s better to destroy the illegal drugs if it is no longer needed as evidence in the trial.”

Under the law, illegal drugs should be destroyed within 24 hours after the ocular inspection. —Julie M. Aurelio
