TAGBILARAN CITY –– A new case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was recorded here on Thursday, July 16.

Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap said the new infection involved a locally stranded individual (LSI).

Just last Wednesday, Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, the provincial government spokesperson on COVID-19-related matters, announced that all LSIs from Tagbilaran City, who had tested positive for the disease, have recovered and that the city no longer has an active case.

But a few hours after, another LSI, a 25-year-old female who arrived in Tagbilaran City from Cebu City, tested positive for the virus, said Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II.

The patient was immediately isolated in a quarantine facility.

As of July 8, at least 748 LSIs arrived in Tagbilaran City. Since the pandemic started, Bohol has registered 46 cases of COVID-19, where one case is active with 25 recoveries and one death.
