The Philippine National Police will build more quarantine facilities and testing centers as the number of policemen infected with the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues to rise.

As of July 15, a total of 1,298 policemen were infected while 640 probable and 1,387 suspected cases were under monitoring.

“[We] are now preparing to establish more quarantine centers and testing hubs as we improve our healthcare support mechanism for our police front-liners and personnel who are exposed to the risk of contamination while fulfilling their duties,” PNP Chief Police Gen. Archie Gamboa said in a statement. —Nestor Corrales
