BOCAUE, Bulacan –– Only 14 of 20 cash lanes in the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) were opened on Thursday, causing traffic to move slowly at the Bocaue Southbound Toll Plaza.

An NLEx Corp. advisory said some of its tellers had to undergo mandatory quarantine to ensure their safety and that of the motorists.
“Since last week, we have been implementing measures to maintain open all 20 Bocaue toll plaza cash booths to prevent traffic congestion,” NLEx said.

The company said it has deployed augmentation teams from other plazas to help manage the traffic.

“We have also ensured that all exclusive RFID (radio frequency identification lanes) and Easytrip tag lanes remain open 24/7 to facilitate contactless and cashless toll payments,” it said.

The ongoing roadworks after the Bocaue Southbound Toll Plaza have also stalled the traffic in the area.
